Qrides Privacy Policy
This policy applies to the Qrides rider app, Qrides Captain app, and related Qrides services. It explains what information we collect, why we use it, and the choices available to you.
Information we collect
- Account information: name, phone number, email address, profile photo, and authentication details.
- Ride and location information: pickup and destination, precise device location, route, ride status, timestamps, and ride history. The Captain app may collect location while the app is in the background when a captain is online or completing a ride.
- Captain verification information: driving licence, vehicle registration, insurance, identity or other documents submitted for onboarding and safety checks.
- Transactions: fare, wallet and payout records, payment status, and payment-provider references. Full card details are handled by payment providers and are not stored by Qrides.
- Communications and support: ride chat, ratings, complaints, support messages, and call-related records where applicable.
- Device and usage information: device identifiers, push-notification token, IP address, app version, diagnostics, crash data, and security logs.
- User-selected media: photos, camera images, or files you choose to upload for profiles, chat, or captain verification.
How we use information
We use information to create and secure accounts; match riders and captains; calculate fares and routes; provide live ride tracking and safety features; process payments and payouts; verify captains; send service notifications; provide support; prevent fraud and abuse; comply with law; and improve reliability.
Location and permissions
Rider location is used to choose pickup points, search for nearby rides, and track active trips. Captain foreground and background location is used to show availability, receive nearby ride requests, navigate, and provide live trip tracking while online or during an active ride. You can change permissions in device settings, but ride features may not work without required location access.
Camera, photo, file, notification, and overlay access is requested only when needed for the feature shown to you. Android's system picker is used for user-selected media where supported.
Sharing
We share only what is needed with riders or captains completing a ride, and with service providers such as hosting, Firebase, Google Maps, communications, analytics, verification, payment, and payout providers. We may also disclose information to authorities where legally required or to protect users and the service. We do not sell personal information.
Retention and security
We retain information only as long as needed for the purposes above, legal obligations, dispute resolution, fraud prevention, and financial recordkeeping. Retention periods vary by record type. We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards, but no system is completely secure.
Your choices and deletion
You may update profile information in the app, manage device permissions, and request deletion from the in-app Delete Account option. You may also use our public account-deletion page. Certain transaction, safety, fraud-prevention, or legal records may be retained where required by law.
Children
Qrides is not directed to children under 18, and we do not knowingly allow them to create accounts.
